Arita ware is well known for its firing techniques of the translucent white porcelain and its colorful and delicate painting skills. Arita porcelain starts to be exported to Europe and got popular since the 17th century due to Japan's trade with Netherlands. Today, many factories in the Saga area of Japan still obey the ancient firing method, and insist that the entire production should be handled by well-trained kiln craftsmen to give each product its own personality and soul.
